Lost + Found [Dances of Exile]
Releasing Her Archive was the stimulus for a performance Lost + Found [Dances of Exile] Q Theatre, 6 October 2017.
LOST + FOUND [dances of exile] is an artistic response to contemporary issues of survival, hospitality and migration through the recovery and revitalisation of a mostly disappeared dance legacy.
The creative legacy of Dunedin-based Shona Dunlop-MacTavish, who brought the renowned expressionist choreographer Gertrud Bodenwieser to New Zealand after fleeing fascist Europe was a catalyst for the project. Dancers’ stories and memories are reimagined and re-embodied by the New Zealand Dance Company, Kasina Campbell and Maryam Bagheri Nesami.
