Final week of rehearsals for GLOW and this week we move on site after two weeks in the relative comfort of rehearsal studios in Woking, Farnham and London.  Chris and Delphine are working on their roles as ringmasters of change, orchestrating the strata of performance in the different levels of the gallery.  Catherine, Pedro and Laura have a new sound to work with tomorrow we’ve added a new drum beat to drive the trio to its conclusion on the ground beneath Abigail’s horizontal strip video of an animated outline of the dancers’ bodies being hauled, lifted and shifted across the floor.  The chorus of stones will be working on site tomorrow and their quartet is getting close to finishing with the doublework of simultaneous duets which thrust and pull at the spaces between.  Susanna will also have her first opportunity to research spaces for her six moments for my body as archive.   These will occur in the cavities, recesses and balconies of the building, suprising audiences as they move between the galleries.  She has been making photographic series of faces, hands, bodies, architectural details and Woking sites which will form strips across her body-as-display, revealing process and exposing the accumulated traces of GLOW.  On Saturday we had our first collective rehearsal. It was an opportunity for me to try to piece together the mosaic of the work, combining dancers from deVyne, the community group, StopGap and the London-based professional dancers selected for the project.  Delphine stirred the juices with a preparatory workshop.  Fired up after a three day workshop with Vandeykeybus in Brussels she enveloped the diverse group of performers in her enthusiasm and joie de vivre. Russell and I tried a couple of new approaches to our workshop method getting individuals to voice and move without the inhibiting strait jacket of social behaviours. Rafe, our baby boy, comes to all rehearsals and is much adored by everyone.  He loves to listen and to watch, is attentive and smiley, his presence is strong in GLOW and GLOW will be shaping his 5th month of life with its musics, its dances.
